Der ARMAZI-Server ist das Resultat eines von der Volkswagen-Stiftung im Rahmen des Programms Gemeinsame Wege nach Europa geförderten internationalen Gemeinschaftsprojekts.

Das Projekt, das von 1999 bis 2002 von der Volkswagen-Stiftung unterstützt wurde, setzte sich zum Ziel, einige sprachwissenschaftlich-philologisch ausgerichtete Institute der führenden Wissenschaftsinstitutionen Georgiens in den internationalen Datenverbund einzubinden. Anhand von exemplarischen Einzelvorhaben haben die beteiligten Institute die Nutzung digitaler Daten und Verfahren in Forschung und Lehre erprobt, um so die Grundlage für eine umfassende, die sprachliche und kulturelle Vielfalt des Kaukasusgebiets widerspiegelnde Datenbasis zu legen, die nunmehr nicht nur den beteiligten Institutionen selbst, sondern auch außerhalb des Kaukasus tätigen Wissenschaftlern wie auch der interessierten Öffentlichkeit zur Verfügung steht.

The ARMAZI server is the result of an international project which was supported by Volkswagen Foundation within the program Common Roads to Europe

The project, which was supported by Volkswagen Foundation from 1999 to 2002, was aimed at introducing some philological departments of the main scientific institutions of the Republic of Georgia into the framework of the World Wide Web. In the course of several individual projects, the participating institutes developed and tested methods of providing digital data for a common usage in research and teaching. On this basis, they hope to have layed the foundation for a comprehensive data base which reflects the linguistic and cultural diversity of the Caucasian region and which is now accessible not only to the project participants but also to the international scholarly community as well as other persons interested.

არმაზის სერვერი არისVW ფონდის მიერ პროგრამის “ერთობლივი გზები ევროპისაკენ” ფარგლებში დაფინანსებული ერთობლივი პროექტი

პროექტი, რომელიც 1999-2002 წლებში ფინანსდებოდა VW ფონდის მიერ,  მიზნად ისახავდა საქართველოს ჰუმანიტარული დარგის წამყვანი სამეცნიერო-კვლევითი ინსტიტუტებისა და კვლევით-საგანმანათლებლო დაწესებულებების საერთაშორისო საინფორმაციო ქსელში (WWW) გაერთიანებას მონაცემთა ბანკის (“არმაზი”) სახით. პროექტი “არმაზი” აერთიანებს ქვეპროექტებს და წრმოადგენს პროექტში მონაწილე სამეცნიერო-კვლევითი ინსტიტუტებისა და კვლევით-საგანმანათლებლო დაწესებულებების ხელთ არსებული ცალკეული მასალების დიგიტალურ რესურსს მათი თანამედროვე ტექნოლოგიური საშუალებებით კვლევის შესაძლებლობებით. პროექტმა უდაოდ შეუწყო ხელი კავკასიის ენობრივი და კულტურული მემკვიდრეობის მრავალფეროვნებისა და ქართული სამეცნიერო სკოლის წარმოჩენას საერთაშორისო ქსელში და ხელმისაწვდომი გახადა “არმაზის” მასალები როგორც დასახელებული სამეცნიერო-კვლევითი ცენტრების, ისე საერთაშორისო სამეცნიერო საზოგადოებისათვის.
